There has been much debate and rumors about a possible Susan Kay Movie based on her novel Phantom. Rumors that Amblin entertainment owns the rights or doesn't. Debates over a movie in general. Some phantom fans don't want a movie version because they feel it would cut out too many important details from the book. Some feel that a  made for T.V. Mini-Series would be better.  It would allow a three to four day series that would leave more of the details to be seen.

I talked with the current publisher of Phantom,  Deborah Greenspan from Llumina Press
I asked her if Amblin Entertainment had bought the rights for a movie. She informed me that no they did not. She said it had indeed went up before Paramount but for whatever reason(s) it hadn't been accepted to be made into a movie. She agreed that it would make a wonderful movie, or T.V. movie, and when I asked her what it would take, she said "About $20 million dollars"  so it's a matter of funding for a film or T.V. Movie / Mini-Series.  

All in all  the general feel is that it would make an incredible movie but there will have to not only be funding but a strong urge from the Phantom Community stating that they would like to see something come to fruition.
